Wednesday's Health/Beauty Tips: Tea is healthy

Wednesday, May 29, 2013

This post is short and sweet and gets to the point! I was not ever a fan of tea, matter of fact any kind of tea. It tasted bitter and for me it was unbareble. So when I heard of Green tea, I thought it would probably taste worst. But I will admit I was wrong I really enjoy it. Not the regular kind of tea, the green kind. I drink the peach flavor which, in my opinion tastes really really good! There is also a Lemon ginger herb tea that I have to try. Also both teas are from the same brand Bigelow.

This green tea is high in antioxidants and has no calories. Even better, no carbs or fat. It's also gluten free. This tea or any tea cleanses the body of bad toxins and when I drink this tea, I feel refreshed.

I have not tried the Lemon ginger tea, but I hear it tastes really. It is on my kitchen table, but I wasn't sure whether I should try it. This tea supports healthy digestion, so that's a plus for me. The tea bag smells good, so I am positive the tea in general will smell even better!

I hope you enjoyed reading and let me know what type of tea you like!

All about my Olive Oil

Friday, May 24, 2013
I love trying out different hair products, I mean that is the only way to see which works for me. One thing about my hair is that it get frizzy in humid weather. As soon as I step out the door in this kind of weather, my hair frizzes in a matter of seconds. The Organic Root Stimulator Olive Oil Anti-Frizz Glossing Polisher and Nourishing Sheen Spray works well.

Everytime I do my hair I will use this after. I am so suprised it works, because normally anti-frizz products do not work well with me. I LOVE IT!
This Anti-Frizz polisher is amazing, it provides shine to your hair and it keeps your hair from getting frizzy. It's formulated to withstand humidity while leaving a healthy shine to your hair. This formula is a blend of silicones and natural oils including the essence of Olive, Abyssinian, and Coconut oil. This infuses the hair with shine and moisture.
-Provides healthy shine
-Protects from humidity
-Controls fly-away hair

If I am not using the polisher, I will use this nourishing sheen spray. Sometimes I use both. This spray provides natural, healthy, sheen to dry thirsty hair. The sheen spray is a non-greasy sheen enhancer created to restore hair's natural moisture. Has vitamin e, olive oil, and herbal extracts provides new life to all hair textures. This products is free of fluorocarbons and drying alcohols.

A Healthier Me: Ways I've improved my eating habits

Thursday, May 23, 2013
On my journey to become a healthier me I have improved the ingredients I cook with. These are ways that have helped me. This is my opinion only and this is how I feel. If you want to check out my post on a healthier me, the link is down below. Improving your eating habits or the amount you eat, can make a big difference. For me it did not happen all at once, it took me sometime to realize that the things I enjoyed were not so good for me. I use to love junk food and that was my problem, not a serious one though. I have not completely cut it though. For example, I don't really like chips anymore(I haven't ate them in a while) cookies not so much either.
http://jerseygirl1216.blogspot.com/2013/04/a-healthier-me.html

1. I use Unbleached flour instead of Bleached flour- Everytime I bake I use Unbleached flour, I use to Bleached because I didn't think their was a difference. But one day I decided to make to make pizza dough and the ingredients called for bread flour or unbleached would do. So I researched the difference between the unbleached and bleached and I came to find that bleached is not so healthy. This is how I feel for myself. Bleached flour has all of these chemicals to keep it's white color, whereas Unbleached isn't as white and does not have all of those chemicals.

2. I use Unsalted butter instead of Salted butter- I think my choice is self-explanatory. Unsalted is something you can use very often in cooking and baking. In baking I am already putting salt in the recipe why would I want to use a whole stick or half a stick of salted butter. Salted butter has a lot of sodium and it is very over powering, especially the taste.

3. Olive Oil instead of Vegetable Oil- Olive oil is less fat than regular oil. The times I will use oil is when I am substituting it for butter.

As for food I eat baked chicken and fries instead of frying them. I love fruit, I have always loved it; so instead of eating junk food I eat more. I snack less and some of the times I bake desserts instead of store brought. Those are only a few things I have changed. I've been doing this for a while now about 2yrs. I feel a lot better. I also drink a lot of water now.

Hope you enjoyed reading and remember Drink water; it's so refreshing and it cleanses your body of toxins!!

My dream of being a Fashion Designer

Monday, May 20, 2013

I am currently a Psychology major and you are probably wondering what does this have to do with fashion, but you will find out soon! I am fascinated with the field of Psychology and if fashion didn't workout for me, I needed a back up plan. I have a "Passion for Fashion" and this is what I was made to do, I just know it. Becoming a fashion designer has always been a dream of mine, since I was about 9 years old. I know what you're probably thinking and yes I was actually 9. One day I was watching an episode of "The Oprah Winfrey Show" and during the show these beautiful models came out wearing these gorgeous designer dresses.

I remember thinking to myself these are amazing and that same day I started sketching dresses! At first I would try to imitate the dresses I saw on the television, but as I got older I started sketching clothes from my own ideas. I am pretty good at sketching wedding dresses and that is my passion and that is my focus. Fashion designer Vera Wang is my inspiration and has inspired me to start making my own. I have no idea how to sew, but I can sketch one heck of a dress... not to brag because my drawings are a little rusty. I am no expert, but I am self taught. Over the years I have learned that it is not all about a pretty or gorgeous dress; it's about the structure, material, and dedication that goes into making a beautiful dresses. These pictures below are a few years old. Recently I have started back sketching, the only difference is that I have the knowledge of structure, than I did before! Even though I am not focused on this right now, this is my first passion and dream and before you know it, it will be my reality!

I hope you enjoyed about one of biggest dream of being a fashion designer! What are your dreams?

Tips on Stress Management

Thursday, May 16, 2013

Before you continue reading please note that this is only my opinion.

Many of us deal with stress. The stress can be from: work, school, bills, relationships or whatever. This post is important because stress is not healthy. Stress can cause headaches, believe me I know. I am always over thinking and over analyzing situatons. Sometimes that is fine and other times it is not ok. I have to learn to be more chill and laid back. Stress does not happen on purpose and sadly it will probably be there for a long time. So this post will be about tips to manage stress.

These tips are only my opinion.
  • Take time for yourself to relax- Everyone needs time for themselves to relax and reevaluate. It could be going shopping, taking a nap, going to the hair and nail salon, or whatever makes you happy!
  • Meditate- When you get up in the morning, before you start your day stop and take time to meditate and prepare for the day ahead of you. If you are feeling upset or angry , stop and take some deep breaths.
  • Have fun- Laugh, hang out with friends, plan a party, or a shopping spree. You should not spend everyday and all day worrying or stressing it is not good for you. Laughing is also healthy for you, keep that in mind.
  • Exercise/Take walks-  Exercising can release a lot of stress. From doing this myself it really does help.
I hope this helps you with feeling less stress!
