Top 5 Spring Nail Polish!

Thursday, April 30, 2015

To get into the spirit of Spring here's my Top 5 polishes for Springtime!  One of my favorite brands is NYC. I am so obsessed, they have so many pretty colors. These polishes are of great quality, but also very inexpensive. They range from $1 to $2. My first is not from NYC, but it's such a pretty color! All of these polishes last a long time. Mine usually lasts for a week, which is really good for me.

Fresh Paint: Pinkapalooza
I am obsessed with this color. It's a very light pink and you only need 2 coats to apply. This color is very versatile and can be worn at anytime.

NYC: Prospect Park Bloom
This color is a really pretty color. It's creamy and it applies very well. If you want to know more checkout a previous post of mine here: My Current Favorite Nail Polish

NYC: Preppy Pink
I am not really into bright colors such as this preppy pink. But after I started wearing it for a while it grew on me. This color reminds me of a tropical island.

NYC: Tudor City Teal
Usually I would not be into colors like these, only because it's out of my comfort zone. But after trying it out I definitely recommend it to everyone.

NYC: Lexington Lilac
This polish is like a light purple and it's really pretty. I am not into loud colors so Lexington Lilac is perfect. It's a very calm color that can be worn anytime of the year.

Amara Organics Skincare Review + Giveaway!

Monday, April 20, 2015
If you knew me, you would realize that I don't really know anything about skin care or having a routine at that. The only skin care routine I had was washing my face and then putting a good lotion/ moisturizer on. Is that bad? So when I received the opportunity of reviewing Amara Organics skin care products I decided to go for it. I have never really tried any skin care products so this was really exciting for me. I have learned new things during this experience and I am excited to share these products with you. So keep reading for more information and stay tuned for the giveaway.
The Amara Organics Skincare line is safe for all skin types and conditions. If you suffer from dry/ irritated skin, acne, and eczema don't worry you can still use these products. It does not contain parabens or alcohol. One of the best parts about these products, is that it won't clog your pores. These products are natural, vegan, and cruelty free. Most importantly these are not tested on animals.
Total Repair Eye Gel:
The eye gel helps you feel more awake and left feeling refreshed. This is used to help you get rid of dark circles, puffiness, bags and sagging, as well as crows feet. So far the eye gel absorbs into my skin pretty quickly. It does not dry as fast as the Hyaluronic Acid Serum. But that's ok. When I pump this out it look like it would be a thick consistency, but it's not at all. Which is a good thing. The dark circles under my eye is getting clearer. The only thing I don't really like about it this at the moment is the sticky feeling that's left on my hands.

Retinol Serum:
The retinol serum is an effective acne treatment. It helps to unclog the pores in your skin, which will clear up any blemishes, and reduce blackheads. This helps to prevent future breakouts by preventing dead skin cells from clogging the pores. This will also clear brown spots and discoloration of the skin. Right now I am experiencing blemishes and breakouts, so this could not have come at a better time. I have only used this for a little while, but I do see some results. My blemishes are starting clear. As I keep using I am sure I will see full results.

Hyaluronic Acid Serum:
Infused with Vitamins C & E, this will protect the skin and reverse signs of aging. This is used to hydrate the skin reducing fine lines and wrinkles. This product is also used to lock in moisture to achieve a dewy glow. This helps your skin become smooth and soft, for an even skin tone. I really like this product a lot. It absorbs in my skin quickly and it does not leave my skin feeling greasy or sticky. My face looks more moisturized and hydrated and it leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth.

Pantene Pro-V: Repair & Protect Shampoo and Conditioner

Thursday, April 16, 2015
The Pantene Pro-V Repair and Protect with Keratin Protection Shampoo and Conditioner is supposed to fix hair damage. These two products help reduce protein loss, to achieve healthy and strong hair. Our hair is partially made of protein and keratin, so it's very important for your hair to be protected. It's said that this shampoo and conditioner will repair damaged hair by restoring smoothness, shine, and manageability.
Over this past weekend my mom needed some new shampoo and conditioner because she didn't have any. She asked me to help her choose which one looked good. I decided this one should be worth it. After watching YouTube videos and reading a lot about hair Keratin is vital to our hair. While at home I was looking through People magazine and found the shampoo and conditioner my mom got from the store. For some strange reason I was pretty excited to find this in the magazine. So this has to be the real deal right? Even though I stopped using sulfate shampoo and conditioners this seems worth the try. I will definitely let you know what I think about this in a future update.

Two Great Olive Oil products

Monday, April 13, 2015
If your like me, your hair thrives for moisture. Most people experience dry, dull, and brittle hair. In the past my hair has dealt with breakage, but no need to worry this can be fixed. A lot of products can help with providing moisture like: leave-in conditioners, hair creams, and olive oil products like the two in this post. In previous posts I have talked about olive oil products and how they work. But not a lot of people realize how important this is for our hair. You do not have to use these products. Using regular olive oil from the grocery store can work just as good.
The ORS Olive Oil hair cream is extra rich for dry thirsty hair. Using this will give your hair the life it should have. This includes a vitamin rich cream that helps strengthen and moisturize the hair while adding shine and softness to the hair. One of the best things about this product is that it absorbs quickly and there is no residue left.
The Olive Oil Shine Moisturizer includes vitamin e and olive oil that helps restore lifeless hair that has been chemically damaged by processing the hair overtime. This product does not leave any sticky or greasy feeling. The consistency is a little thick, so a small amount goes along way. Both products can be found at Walmart for under $6. Unfortunately I do not remember the exact price. In my opinion these products work great and it is definitely worth it!

Beauty Tips for Nighttime

Friday, April 10, 2015

At night we tend to forget easy but important tips, because we're so tired. I am here to remind that the small things matter too! So keep reading for these quick simple nighttime tips.

1. Sleep on a satin pillow or wear a satin scarf or bonnet
- this will reduce breakage and keep hair healthy and strong.

2. After moisturizing your feet put socks on
- this will lock in moisture.

3. Use baby oil to remove makeup
- In previous posts I had alternatives like Olive oil and Vaseline. So baby oil is another great substitute.

4. Protect your ends (braids, bun, scarf, etc...)
- leaving your ends unprotected can create split ends and breakage.

I hope you enjoyed reading! What nighttime beauty tips do you follow?

Palmer's Olive Oil Hair Mousse

When I think of hair mousse, I think of something that has a thick consistency and feels really sticky. But that is not the case. This quickly disappears into the skin and it does not leave any sticky feeling.
Palmers Olive Oil hair mousse contains Vitamin E which is great for source for healthy hair. Another important component of this product is Keratin protein. This ensures your hair is healthy and strong. One of the best things about this, is there are no sulfates nor parabens. Sulfates are known stripping the hair of its natural oils. Another good thing is this is alcohol free.

Most of us unfortunately deal with frizzy hair. Luckily with this hair mousse our frizz prone hair is eliminated. During the winter months or all year long hair tends to break. This will prevent breakage and help to strengthen the hair. Usually with hair products that are foam or thick leave dry flakes in the hair. No one wants their hair to look like they've just come out of a  snow storm. This is non drying flake free and you get maximum volume and shine as well as hair that is filled with moisture!

DIY: Body Scrub/ Exfoliator

Sunday, April 5, 2015

I am very excited because this is my first DIY! I thought a body scrub would be perfect to share. Most times body scrubs cost an arm and a leg. So I decided to make my own. The most popular homemade scrub has brown sugar and olive oil. Before I used it, I wanted to do my research to know why this sugar was great to use. I went on livestrong to do my research. During my research I was surprised to find out that brown sugar was not just used for foods and desserts. Brown sugar is the softer sugar, which makes it a great component for the skin. It's strong enough to eliminate those dead skin cells that maybe left after a shower or a bath. Olive Oil is great for the skin as it is use to soften the skin and lock in the moisture. That's why people use it for their skin and hair. It's very easy to make and both ingredients compliment each other!

- 1/2 cup of Brown Sugar
- 1/4 cup of Olive Oil
- A spoon for mixing
- A mason jar or use a container. All I did was wash out this ice cream jar, nothing fancy!

I am probably a late bloomer with this body scrub/ exfoliator, but it's better late than never. I used this as a full body scrub and it works really good. If you have not tried this, it's very worth it. Again it is very easy to make, you probably have these ingredients at home, and it's simple but works effectively. I recommend you all to try this out. Maybe during a spa day at home or every week. The best part about this scrub is that it's versatile. It works as a facial, lip, and full body scrub. This is great if you're on a budget! You should definitely make this apart of your daily routine and lifestyle.

I hope you enjoyed reading. Let me know if you have tried this before and if you have not, try it!

Calgon: take me away body cream

Saturday, April 4, 2015
In my previous blog posts I have talked about lotions that are great for making dry skin feel soft and moisturized. Here's the links if you want to check them out: Cocoa Butter Lotion & Vaseline: Total Moisture. I have another great lotion to talk about and it is definitely a favorite of mine. The Calgon body cream is enriched with Shea butter, aloe, and Vitamin E. These 3 ingredients are important for this lotion. It ensures your skin is moisturized and full of nourishment. It softens dry and rough skin, so you can have a long- lasting moisturized skin. It's very easy to apply to the skin. Most importantly, it quickly absorbs into the skin without leaving a greasy feeling. You can then achieve silky smooth skin all day. It comes in the flavor of Tahitian Orchid, which smells really good. I feel like I'm on an Island with coconuts and palm trees. It is very refreshing and this lotion makes your skin feel so soft.

Garnier Fructis: Marvelous Oil Frizz Defy

Friday, April 3, 2015
The Garnier Fructis frizz oil is custom blended with Amla & Jojoba oil. It smooths and tames frizzy, unruly hair. You can use this in 5 ways to instantly transform your hair. This will leave your hair feeling shiny without leaving a greasy residue. I think this is great! I mean who wants to feel greasy and sticky after applying this product to the hair. Another good thing about this oil, is the many ways you can use this!
 1. Pre- Shampoo Treatment
Apply to wet or dry hair before shampooing to prime hair for gentle cleansing.
2. Conditioner Booster
Add 1 to 2 drops to conditioner to improve detangling.
3. Blow- Dry Accelerator
Apply to damp hair to dry faster than a conditioning cream leave- in.
4. Ends Finisher
Apply to damp or dry ends to smooth split ends and tame flyaways.
5. Overnight Leave-In
Work into wet or dry hair, leave in overnight to restore softness.
So far I have only used this as an ends finisher. This is great for taming those out of control flyaways. I just use my hands to smooth them, but if you want to be fancy use a brush or a toothbrush no one uses. My hair is curly, so it gets tangled in the shower. The next time I wash my hair I will definitely add this to my conditioner. This product is so versatile! If I had to only bring 3 hair products with me on a vacation, it would be my shampoo, conditioner, and this Garnier Fructis oil. I feel like this will be a great product for a long time.

5 Beauty Hacks/ Tips

Thursday, April 2, 2015

As girls we take a while to get ready. Whether its for work, school or a Friday/ Saturday night, it is very time consuming. We all do not have the time, so I decided to share some beauty hacks/ tips to help you out. I have tried all of these so no need to worry, they all work. So keep reading for more!

1. Q-tips
- You can use these to clean excess makeup that it not needed. All you have to do is dip the q-tip in makeup remover and fix the mistakes. If you do not have remover dip it in Vaseline.

2. Olive Oil
- This is a great substitution to remove makeup at night time. Sometimes makeup remover can be expensive or you may just run out of it.

3. Beachy waves w/o heat
- We all know heat can be damaging if you use it over a long period of time. So this tip will definitely lessen the amount of heat. All you have to do is apply either a hair cream or oil and then braid your hair overnight. Depending on the kind of waves you desire will determine how many braids you have and how big or small they are.

4. Vaseline
- Vaseline is one of those products that can work on just about anything. One of the things I find helpful is putting Vaseline around the nails to keep the polish from sticking, during a manicure. You can also use this to tame the eyebrows. Sometimes my eyebrows are uncontrollable so just take a little Vaseline and apply it to your brows.

5. Get clean white nails
- This is a new one I recently tried and it really does work. Take a toothbrush no one has used and apply whitening toothpaste on it. After that scrub your nails and then wash them.

I hope you have enjoyed reading. If you want more tips or you have some of your own, let me know!
