Believe in Yourself

Friday, July 31, 2015

I love motivating others and encouraging people. I believe everyone deserves happiness in life. There are times when I have my downs, but as of today "I'm starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel"! There have been times where I've given up, but then I think about the people that are going through tough times. If they are not giving up, I shouldn't give up either. If you believe in yourself, you are capable of making your dreams come true. Nothing happens overnight, trust me I learned that the hard way. But if you're dedicated and passionate about something go for it.

As I always say, I'm still a work in progress but I now know what it means to be truly passionate about something. Whether it may be a cause, a dream, a goal; no matter how big or small. I was never a negative person. Don't get me wrong, my self-esteem isn't the best but I've tried seeing things in a positive light. I want you to know that it's ok to fall down, but don't let that defeat you. Get back up and try again. Everyday is a learning lesson for us. If we fail one day, remember we have so many more to succeed. It all starts with believing in yourself and your ability to be awesome. If you feel like you're alone, talk to someone about it. I know it may seem easier said then done, but I'm serious. There is someone out there that knows what you're going through.
We all face obstacles and struggles, but if we stay positive and surround ourselves with positive people imagine the happy feeling we'll have! John Cena is a WWE superstar and his famous line is "Never Give Up". I understand what he meant, but didn't really think about it until now. He never gave up and now look at where he's at. If I continue to have that same passion and work hard for my dreams, I will get there too. If you believe in yourself, you will get there as well. Believe you can be the best and others will too!

I hope you have reading! I also hope that this post encourages you to believe in yourself!

Posts You Should Read as a Blogger! (Updated)

Lately, I been debating on where I want my blog to go. I love my design, but now I don't know about my blog in general. I consider myself a beauty & lifestyle blogger. But isn't beauty related things apart of life? So when I need some blogging inspiration, I like to read other blogs to get motivated. I can literally spend hours looking up new blogs, reading my current favorites blogs, or helpful tips. In this post, here's some blog posts I've found to be very helpful and useful. Everyone's experiences with blogging are different, so there is no right or wrong answer to this. These are just here to help!

Products to use for soft skin

Wednesday, July 29, 2015
We all desire to have smooth, soft, and hydrating looking skin. Those commercials for soft skin are so nerve racking. It's like they have soft skin and I'm over here with piles of exfoliators! Am I the only one?

During the Summer and even the winter we experience dryness and cracks in our hands. It can be irritating and it hurts as well. Here are 3 products I recommend you to tryout.

The Suave Creamy Tropical Coconut Body Wash, definitely moisturizes and softens the skin. Suave body wash is enriched with Coconut extract and infused with Vitamin E. Vitamin E is an essential part for healthy skin. This product also contains milk protein, so beware if you are allergic. The scent lasts on you for hours. I definitely recommend this to you. This was also my first time using a body wash, I usually use soap. I still do, but I am loving this too. If I was to just use body wash, I would continue to use the soap while washing my face.

Some soaps can make your hands feel and dry and cracked. That feeling can be unbearable, but these soap do just the opposite! I am not affiliated with the Softsoap brand, I just love their soaps. They have variety of other scents, like peppermint. But these are the 2, that are in the house. Milk & Golden Honey Moisturizing Hand Soap, has a creamy consistency. This product is also enriched with milk protein (just like the body wash, so be careful) and also had honey extracts. I love this because it smells really good and my hands are left feeling soft and smooth. The Lavender & Chamomile Hand Soap doesn't say moisturizing on it, but that what it does. It's basically the same as the, milk and honey soap. The Lavender & Chamomile isn't creamy, but it has a thick consistency. I definitely recommend these soaps, they were under $2, which is great. They also come is scents/flavors like: peppermint, watermelon, and others.

Spaghetti w/ Ground Turkey Recipe

Tuesday, July 28, 2015
I've been enjoying my creativity when it comes to cooking. I have a few recipe posts on here, but only one of them I made with my own recipe. If you want to checkout my barbecue sauce click here: My Barbecue Sauce Recipe! So this time I will share with you my spaghetti with ground turkey recipe. It's very simple and only needs a few ingredients. You are more than welcome to adjust or change the ingredients and measurements. Most of the time I don't measure I just eyeball it, but I wanted to share with you so I made it into a recipe!

I used 1 tomato paste with no salt and the other one with salt. The other paste is flavored with roasted garlic. Sauce works fine with this, I just didn't have any. I also used Muller's spaghetti, just because. But you can use another spaghetti or pasta. I do not use this meat sauce just for spaghetti. Also this is good with ground beef as well or sausage. The only thing I would add is the onion and the pepper. The sausage already has enough flavor, at least for me.

Serving Size:  6
Prep time: 10 min.
Cook time: 1 hr.
Let meat sauce cool: 10 min.

Ingredients:
1 Tbsp. of Olive Oil
1 lb of Ground Turkey
1/2 of Onion, chopped
1 tsp. of Onion Powder
1 tsp. of Black Pepper
2 small cans of Tomato Paste
1 to 2 cups of Water
1 box of Spaghetti

Directions:
1. Put on the water for the spaghetti.
2. Turn the stove on medium heat and add the oil to the pan. When it seems like the oil is hot, add the ground turkey. Cook the ground turkey for 10 minutes. Then you add the chopped onions to the pot with the ground turkey and cook them together for about 6 minutes or until both ingredients cook down. After add the onion powder and the black pepper and stir for about 2 minutes.
3. Then you want to add the tomato paste and stir it in for about 1 minute. Then you add 1 to 2 cups of water and stir it all together (If you want, you do not have to stir in the paste until after you add the water). After that you want to cover the pot, lower the heat, and let it cook for 40 minutes (stir every 8 to 10 minutes). While the meat sauce is cooking check the water for the spaghetti.
4. The water should be at a boil (if not wait till it gets there). Then add your spaghetti and cook it according to the directions on the box. The spaghetti should be done before the sauce, so while your waiting drain your spaghetti. You can put your spaghetti back into the same pot.
5. When your sauce is ready cut the stove off and let the sauce cool for about 10 minutes. Don't worry it will still be hot. After the 10 minutes mix the meat sauce into the spaghetti.

Side Note:
If you want to be fancy, sprinkle some parsley into the spaghetti. Even better, if you don't want the parsley stir in some basil to the meat sauce while it's cooling down.

Acceptance

Sunday, July 26, 2015

If you want to see a positive change in the world, you have to start the trend. In our society, we are experiencing the struggles of accepting others and even more importantly ourselves. Everyone wants to be accepted and they deserve to be. They deserve to be comfortable with who they are. It's the 21st century, our society should stop being judgmental and start accepting that everyone is different. I love the fact that people are different! What if we all dressed the same, acted the same, and ate the same meals? That would be so boring. The bullying and the hate is so toxic and it's bringing us all down. We all have the right of "Freedom of Speech", but there is a fine line between stating your opinion and being down right ignorant.

In this day in age, it is so hard to accept ourselves because of the society we live in. I'm not saying all people feel this way, but enough of are. I've always felt this way, but because of recent topics and videos, I thought it was time to share how I feel. Em Ford from My Pale Skin Blog, was one of the people that inspired me. After watching her video "You Look Disgusting", I was sad and empowered at the same time. I felt sad because, she's a beautiful person and doesn't deserve this hate. I was empowered because she learned to love herself no matter what, we should all love ourselves! Another topic is Caitlyn Jenner. She showed me that everyone goes through struggles, no matter what age you are. She is finally comfortable in her own skin and that's amazing. Anyone who changes/ transitions into who they really are deserves that acceptance. We are all human beings, one person isn't better than the next and one struggle isn't more important than the next.

Honestly, I feel if you learn to have acceptance for yourself that will allow you to have acceptance for others as well. Our society is changing, but it's a work in progress. There are still judgmental people in this world and unfortunately you can't do anything about it. People have their own choices and decisions to make, but being rude shouldn't be one of them. I understand people have their own beliefs, moral values, and opinions. No one deserves hate, sometimes that hate for someone causes them to hate themselves and that's terrible. I don't expect people to feel the same as I do, I just think people should accept people for who they are. If only everything was that simple. But it's not and I'm not sure if it will ever be. I am just feeling this way and I thought I would express my feelings.

I thought this was a serious topic to talk about so I went on twitter and asked for others opinions on this subject.

Kristina from creepersandcupcakes.com  says "accepting yourself is important so that you can move on with life, be a better person, be happier. Even the things you may consider flaws someone else may really like!"

Liz from Beauty Fashion And Lifestyle says "Acceptance in my opinion is the most important quality a person can have!"

Sarah from SazBomb says "I think it's important to try & find the positive in all situations & treat others how you yourself would like to be treated."

Thank you Kristina, Liz, and Sarah for your opinions. If you have any feelings on this post feel free to talk about them. It's important we talk about this issue.

Taking Risks

Monday, July 20, 2015

Over the past few years, I've learned a lot about taking risks. "You never know how something will be unless you try it", this is so true. I am a cautious person and I was not the biggest risk taker. The only risky I did was cross the street while a car was close. It's important to take risks and it's more important to try something out. For me I am taking baby steps. It doesn't have to b major, it can be small. About a month ago, I finally put a picture of myself on my Twitter and Facebook page. I was so nervous, but after awhile I felt a relief. I was relieved I took that first step.

I started out wanting to make YouTube videos, but I didn't want to be on camera. So that's when I found blogging. Blogging has given me the confidence to follow my dreams and put myself out there! I guess I am or was afraid of being vulnerable.

I've faced rejection with certain opportunities and I failed at things. Even though I gave up at that point, that didn't stop and I continued trying again. Relating this to blogging, I would give up when I felt no one was reading my blog. But at some point I got back up. Relating this to life, I shouldn't let set backs get me down. If people are going through worse things then I am, who am I to be complaining about the small things.

I am a dreamer. I have so many dreams I want to accomplish, but if I don't take risks how can they happen. I feel like this is my year to shine! I've had some opportunities that I didn't think could happen. I am so grateful and it's because I took risks. If I want to accomplish things and be successful I have to be a risk taker.

Have you ever taken risks, that you wouldn't have a year(s) ago?

Spa Splendor: First impression

Sunday, July 19, 2015
Lately I've been into exfoliating my skin, it's very rejuvenating and refreshing. While in Walmart I saw the Spa Splendor. I have never heard of Spa Splendor before, but I was willing to give it a try. It was under $3, which was great especially if you're on a budget! I decided that I would do a first impression about this product.

On the back of this package it says that, this is an exfoliating towel that refreshes and renews the skin. When I read this, I thought this was great for me. Everyone wants smooth, refreshing, and soft skin.

 Usage
-Use for bathing or showering/ wet or dry.
-Apply favorite soap or gel. Lather and gently massage into skin.
-After use, rinse and air dry.

First impression
This towel didn't really work for me that well. To be honest, I did not see a big difference in my skin. The towel does opens up and it's thin material. When using this I preferred the towel folded, because I thought it would be more effective. Maybe after a few uses I will feel differently. This product works ok, but it's not a wow moment for me. Even though I didn't see a major change, doesn't mean someone else will have the same experience.

My Flaws as a Blogger

Friday, July 17, 2015

During one of my favorite chats #ltbloggers (lunchtime bloggers) we talked about blogging. While I'm interacting, I think about all the flaws I have as a blogger. The three listed below is something I've always felt. Since I am turning over a "new leaf" and since I am happier as a blogger, I thought I would share them with you.

Is my blog good enough?
Worrying about whether my blog is good enough, this is something I think a lot about. I always try to encourage others, but I also have to take my own advice. I want my blog to attract others, but most importantly I want to like my own blog. From interacting with other bloggers on twitter, I realized I am not the only one who feels this way. Sometimes I'm guilty of comparing my blog to others. "Their blog is so great, why can't mine be that way"? "I work hard on my blog posts, is it boring"? "I'm just being myself, is that a bad thing"?

Is this design right for me?
Spending hours trying to find the perfect blog design is definitely a flaw for me. When I first redesigned my blog, I was happy at first. But I was never 100% sure about it, I even wrote a post on it here: Blog Changes. I learned so much about html and css and I worked really hard, but it wasn't what I really wanted. For about a month I was a search for the perfect design. I would look at other blogs and think, "Hey that's what I want". But I've come to realize that, what's great for someone else might not be great for you. I would stress out about it. In general I'm an indecisive person. I found this beautiful design for free (minimal clean template design) I though it was good. But after about two weeks I realized I didn't like it at all. It was nice, but not me. This week when I had time I would stay up late looking for the perfect design. I would upload it, fix it up and I wasted time. But last night I searched one more time and it hit me. I said wow when I saw the sugar and spice blogger template. That didn't happen with the others, which is why I knew this one was me. I'm a simple kind of girl, but I wanted that hit of girly to it. I love this new design and I am so motivated. I may sound a little crazy, but the other design made me feel sad.

Do people like my blog?
Worrying about what people think of my blog. I've always been a worry wart, so this time is no different. I always feel insecure about my blog. I am being myself, but I don't understand. Sometimes I think, this is what stops me from blogging everyday. That's going to change though. If I don't believe in myself, who will. Whenever I blog I work really hard. But from now on I'm blogging about whatever I want, no matter what. To be honest the simple things make me happy!

Do you have any flaws as blogger?

Advice to My Younger Self

When I look back on the days I was kid, I miss it a lot. Who doesn't? I mean you didn't have to worry about anything like: School, Work, Bills, "The Real World". Back then I was a "worry wart". I worried about fitting in, I worried about how I looked, and I even worried about gym. I know everyone says gym is like the easiest class, I mean that's true but I didn't like it. I you didn't hit the ball right or didn't run fast enough, the other kids would pick on you. Do not get me wrong, I did have some good times in elementary but it wasn't enough.

When I think about it, my experience was only bad in the 3rd grade. The girls in my classroom were so mean to me and when we had recess inside, it was bad. They kicked me out of their circle and I was alone. I was by myself and they laughed at me. I would come home upset and my mom would encourage me. Moms are so important, they are always there for you. I'm sure we all can agree that we are very lucky. She told me not to worry about those girls and I do not need them. It's true I didn't need them. The next day at school I felt a little better, but I knew I was going to be alone. If only I could hug my 3rd grade self, I would! That day after school, my mom had a surprise for me. She brought me an art set: markers, crayons, color pencils, and paper. My mom said I could take this to school and I wouldn't be alone. I guess this started my dream of wanting to become a designer! Anyway, everyday I brought that art set and I would draw and color. I was by myself, but that was ok because I was having way more fun.

If I could talk to my younger self, I would tell her don't worry about the girls at school. They are insecure about themselves. They have no reason to laugh at you, so don't worry. You are better off without them. Who needs friends like that anyway. You are a kindhearted person and those girls just want to see you cry. But you're not going to give them that. You're a strong girl. Sometimes when I look back, I can't believe that happened to me. It makes me sad when I hear about little kids getting bullied. I know how it feels and its not a one. It's important that you have someone to talk to.

Were you ever bullied or did you see someone else get bullied?

Dealing with a loss

Monday, July 13, 2015
I am not one to express my feelings a lot, but this is what's on my mind. I felt it was only right to let my feelings show. Nothing could have ever prepared me for what I experienced a year and a half ago. Sometimes I just sit and think and I start to cry. I am filled with a lot of emotions, but there is a piece that is still broken. My mind is on overdrive and the feeling inside of me is still in disbelieve. Losing a family is hard, there are a lot of people that have experienced loss before. But how do you deal with it? Is there really a way? I honestly can't answer this. I keeping thinking back to when everything happened and it still doesn't seem real to me. Looking back on all of the memories I have with my Pop Pop are even more special to me now. Knowing that I am writing this, makes me even more sad, because I know he's really not here anymore. I guess what they say is true, "people think the most when it's night time".

Maybe it's just me, but I had so many things to say and I didn't get a chance to. Does anyone else feel that way? I do not know how to feel or how to cope. I feel like I'm not making any sense, but my mind is filled with a thousand thoughts. With any loss it's so hard, one day their here and the next they're gone. Everyday I think about these things. I didn't get a chance to say I love you and I didn't get a chance to see you that last time. While I am writing this I am feeling sad, but I have so many memories to cherish. Anytime I hear about a loss I feel sad. I know the person wasn't related to, but I know how that feels. Sometimes it's hard for people to open up, but it's important to have someone who understands. Dealing with a loss is hard, there is no way around it. It seems like everything reminds you of that loss: a movie, a song, a piece of furniture. My Pop Pop liked Raisin Bran cereal and when I was little I would eat it to. So a little after he passed away I remember eating that cereal, (at CVS they have the cereal bowls). So when I finished, I washed it out and saved it just because it reminded me of him. I am not going to tell you it gets better, its different for everyone. Know that you're not alone and it does take time, that's ok. It's also ok to cry and feel sad.

The Love/Hate Tag!

Friday, July 10, 2015

I love tags, there a way to get to someone. I was tagged by Tarnya from Sweet Allure and Elle from Simply Caramelle. You should definitely checkout their blogs and maybe give them a follow!

The Rules:
The rules for this tag is pretty simple. List 10 things you love and 10 things you hate (dislike), then you tag 10 bloggers for this tag. If you cannot find 10 that's ok.

These are the 10 things that I love. I do have more though, but this tag only requires 10!
10 Things I Love!:
Family- My family means so much to me. My mom and sister are always there for me, I love them to pieces!
Listening to Music- Music is something that's apart of my life. My whole family loves music. I pretty much "old school and new school music".
TV&Movies- I love watch reality TV, but not the kind that has a lot of drama. Although sometimes I watch Gypsy Sisters! I like to watch Diners, Drive-Ins, & Dives, Duck Dynasty, The Wahlburgers, Donnie loves Jenny, Steve Austin's Broken Skull Ranch, Ink Master, Catfish, & Ridiculousness. As far as regular shows go I love Criminal Minds, Law & Order: SVU, CSI: Miami, Numb3rs, Hawaii Five-0, & Pretty Little Liars. I am not even going to list my favorite movies, I wouldn't be able to stop! I love almost every genre of movies. I also love TV movies, Lifetime/LMN are the best. There are more, but I would be here all day this is just a summary of it. Netflix is my favorite for movies and TV series, but Hulu isn't bad!
Wrestling (Professional)- I love to watch wrestling I have stayed up for hours just watching videos. To me it's like art or a craft. You have to have the skills and training. Am I the only one who love wrestling?
Basketball (Professional)- Basketball is something I started watching years ago, I was about 9 years old. My family also loves to watch Basketball. If I could be a sports analyst in basketball, that would be so cool.
Cooking/Baking- I love cooking, especially with my mom it's really special. When I started watching Laura In The Kitchen about 5 years ago I started to enjoy cooking even more. If you're like me you find cooking the same kinds of meals boring. With her YouTube and over 800 videos cooking it's so much fun for me. My mom and sister also enjoy the recipes as well. I even created some recipes of my own!
Watching YouTube videos- I can watch YouTube videos all day.
Sketching (Drawing)- This is something I've been doing since I was 9. I love sketching wedding dresses and bridesmaid dresses. I have not done this in while, I guess lack of motivation. But I'm starting to get back into it. One day I am going to be a designer and own my own store!
Eyeliner- I love eyeliner, I have a pretty big collection. There are still so many colors I haven't tried yet.
Nail Polish-I am obsessed with nail polish. I talk about it all the time.
Just like Elle, I feel the word hate is too harsh. Besides I always say dislike, so this post shouldn't be any different.
10 Things I Hate (Dislike):
Nails on a Chalkboard- This noise makes me cringe.
Stress- Stress is stressful, does that make any sense? I don't like to be stressed and I don't like for others to be stressed.
Prunes/Prune Juice- I dislike prunes a lot. I remember I asked my cousin for something to drink and he offered ice tea. But he played a prank on me and gave me prune juice. It was not good at all, (In the end, I did get Ice Tea)!
Ignorance- Ignorance comes in all shapes and sizes. Why are people rude? Why are people malicious? It's something that should stop, but will it?
Cliff Hangers- I don't like cliff hangers, they leave me feeling weird. I know that's what keep you interested in a show, but come on. For example, when watching Pretty Little Liars I get stressed out. At the end of every episode there's A and I'm thinking who could this be.
Kale- I do not like kale. I have tried it and I just can't take it. Maybe it's because of my bad experience with making green juice or it just doesn't taste good. Although I haven't tried it before then.
Cauliflower
Being in Awkward Situations
The Feeling of being Uncomfortable
Crowds at the store/mall- They can be so rude. It's like if they push you, you get blamed for it or you don't get an apology. Crowds sometimes give me anxiety and then I start to get hot and the feeling is not great.

Summer Nail Polish

Thursday, July 9, 2015

In every nail post, I write about how obsessed I am with polish. My favorite brand is NYC (New York Color). I am not affiliated with them in any way. Their polish just works for me and it lasts me a week. I do not base my polish on the seasons, it really doesn't matter to me. I guess it just depends on my mood! But a lot of these colors, if not all go great for the Summer. Some of these Polishes look different, that's because they are. Some of them are quick dry (In a Minute) polish. They dry really fast in about 5 to 6 minutes. The others dry between 8 to 12 minutes. I got these at Walmart for under $2!

These pink polishes are so pretty. If you want a simple polish look the light pink (Upper West Side) is perfect. This one is my top favorite! The others are not simple at all. But I love Fuchsia Shock and Pink Promenade. They are worth the try.

These Reds are stunning. I am obsessed with Times Square! I have not tried Big Apple Red, but I know it's a beautiful color.

These colors are ones that I do not usually wear. So this is my first time experimenting with them. I have tried High Line Green and I was really impressed. I am so glad I decided to purchase it. The Midtown Mimosa is a pretty yellow, but I only tried it on one finger. Disco Inferno is something completely new to me. It can turn any plain nail into a beautiful sparkle.

I hope you enjoyed reading! What are your favorite polishes to wear for the Summer?

Nail Care/ Tools & Tips

Thursday, July 2, 2015

A while back in a post of mine, I talked all about the "Nutra Nail Hardener" I've been loving. In that post I talked about how I started to do my nails myself, instead of going to the nail salon. If you want to know about it click here: Nail Hardener. I'm going to give you all a little summary about my nails. Over the years I have had a love/hate relationship with my nails, am I the only one? I did not like my nails without tips, they just did not look right to me. But recently for the past few months I decided to do my nails myself. I do my nails every week. That's how long my nail polish stays on. If I am not using polish and I want to give my nails a break, I will use my Nutra Nail Hardener or my L.A Colors Nail Treatment/growth polish. I like to use a quick dry top coat with these, just to ensure it does not come off and so it will dry faster. Keep reading to check out these simple nail tools I use. I also have some tips for you that I use, to care for my nails.

                                                                            Tools
  • Small Nail Clipper: I use the small clipper to cut those hangnails we get every now and then. To be honest these annoy and I am curious to where they come from. Anyway, a small clipper comes in handy because it can fit in the small areas of the nail.
  • Big Nail Clipper: Clips my nails for a shorter look.
  • 2 Nail Shapers/ Files: I use the big nail shaper/ file to brush my nail and file them down. But if I want to be precise with the shape of my nail, I will use the small one. I think this works best because it gets closer to my nail, rather than the bigger nail shaper.
  • Cuticle Pusher: This cuticle pusher works ok, but it's really not the best. It actually hurts to use because of the sharp points at the end of it. I do not remember the brand but it cost about $1.
  • Flat Angled Eyeliner Brush: This is very helpful when polishing my nails. I didn't really use it as a makeup brush, so it came in handy for my nails. I decided to use this to clean up any excess polish that got on the sides of my nails and cuticles.

                                                                             Tips
  • Use whitening toothpaste to whiten/ clean your nails.
  • Before polishing the nails put Vaseline or tape around the nails and cuticles. The nail polish will stick to the Vaseline, but will be easy to take off. The tape will ensure the polish will not stick to and around the nails.
  • If you don't have cuticle oil or cream, Vaseline will work just as good. If you do not like Vaseline, you can also use Olive Oil it doesn't just work for the hair and skin.
  • If your nail polish does not seem shiny after a couple/few day, rub Vaseline on them.
I hope you have enjoyed reading this post! What tips or tools do you have for your nails?
