5 Things I Wish I Knew Before Starting A Blog

Friday, January 26, 2018
This year will be six years of blogging for me and I still feel like I’m just starting. Back when I first decided to blog, it wasn’t as popular as it is now. I had no one to talk to for advice. There wasn’t really any post on how to start a blog and if there was, I didn’t know about it. I’m not one to really give advice on what to, I can only share my experience and hopefully you’ll learn a better way to do things. I do have some things I wished I would have known when it comes to blogging, but I don’t regret them because it helped me become better. So here are the five things I wish I that I knew before blogging!

Promoting Your Blog
I remember when I first started blogging, I had no clue what I was doing. To be honest I was so consumed with views and numbers. But who isn’t when you first start blogging? I wanted people to read what I had to say and the things that interests me. I didn’t realize that promoting your blog, was the key to get views and comments. I don’t know what I was thinking, except that I thought people would just somehow find me.

You’re Not Alone
When starting out as a blogger I felt so alone. Some of the people I talked to regularly on social media weren’t bloggers, they were all on YouTube. So no one really understood how I was feeling and most importantly I didn’t tell anyone I knew in real life. It wasn’t until the next year in 2013, when I started meeting other bloggers through Twitter that I felt like blogging wasn’t so bad. There was this community of other bloggers sharing the things that they love.

Don’t Give Up
My attitude now feels like, giving up is not an option for me. But back then I was ready to throw in the towel so many times. I didn’t give up though, because of that blogging is the first real thing I’ve been consistent with. It’s important not to give up and that motivates me more than ever before!

It’s Important To Be Organized
I fought so hard not to plan or schedule anything related to blogging. Honestly I didn’t feel it was necessary at the time. Whether it’s a hobby, part time or full time job I believe it’s important to keep track of posts and pictures. I’ve learned so much about being organized and it has really helped me.

Be Confident
It’s important to believe in yourself and the work that you publish. I’ve been blogging for a while now and I only started gaining confidence during my third year! I started as blogger with low self esteem and lacked a lot of confidence. I didn’t really have anyone to talk to about it, because no one in real life knew. I wish I could’ve talked to other bloggers, but I didn’t know them or have the confidence to talk to them first. It was 2015 when I first posted a picture of myself as my profile and I felt a huge relief. I realized I wanted people to know who I am and I wasn’t afraid anymore. I will never forget that moment!

44 Thoughts While At The Movie Theater

Tuesday, January 23, 2018
Is it me or does a million thoughts run in your mind, when you are out in public? When for me the movie theater is the worse. I'm constantly thinking about seats, germs and most of all the noise. So I decided to share the thoughts I have while at the movies and maybe you have them too!

Why is the line so long, don't people have anything else to do.

Hopefully by the time I get in front of the line my movie won't be sold out.

I haven't been to the movies in a while, is it still the same price.

What snacks should I get.

Will I look like a pig if I get every kind of candy.

Oh, I can't forget about the popcorn.

Of course I need something to drink with my popcorn. I want something to wash down all that salt.

Finally I'm almost in the front of the line.

Why are people staring at me, is there something on my face.

This movie is rated r do I have my id with me, what if I don't.

It's my turn now, thank goodness.

Crap I should have taken my money out earlier. I didn't even clean out my bag, now I'm going to be forever looking for my wallet.

Great, the people behind me are staring to get pissed.

I'm nervous and I'm starting to sweat. I know I have my wallet, where is it.

I found my wallet, now I can get my ticket and walk in embarrassment.

Hopefully it's not crowded in there.

Where am I going to sit.

I don't want to sit in the front, but the middle is not my favorite place to be.

If I sit in the back I can be closer to the door, if I have to use the bathroom.

If I sit in the back what someone tall comes in, then I can't see.

I guess middle seats it is.

Why is this person walking towards me.

Out of all the available seats, why sit next to me.

Now I can't stretch my arms.

Thanks a lot person who just had to sit near me.

I'm hungry but I don't want to eat and make chewing noises. What if people tell me to shut up.

What if I get popcorn on the person next to me.

Am I chewing loud.

I'm so thirsty, I'm sure it would hurt to take just a sip.

I can hear myself making gulping sounds, I should just slide down my seat. Maybe no one will notice.

Being in love in nice, but must show pda while I'm watching the movie.

I want to react to the movie, but what if they think I'm loud or sound annoying.

Why is this person talking so loud, if I can have self control so can you.

Why is this person yelling at the movie, the actors can't hear you.

Wait I think I'm the one yelling.

But it can't just be me, right.

I'm starting to feel uncomfortable, is this movie over soon.

Great the movie is over but my legs fell asleep and I can't get up.

Are people really in a rush to leave, I can't even enter the aisle to walk.

Is there something going on, because I'm getting pushed back and forth.

I just tripped over my own foot.

A few more step before the exit.

Is this a push or pull kind of door.

I'm finally out of the theater.

Blushed Neutrals Palette By BH Cosmetics!

Friday, January 19, 2018
Before I continue I just want to say how positive and focused I’ve been so far this year. I’m almost ready to conquer the world right now, sort of. This post is a new one but an old one if that makes sense. I’ve had these pictures for about a year ready to use for this first impressions review, but I wasn’t in the blogging mood at the time. So anyway, if you’ve been reading my blog for awhile or this is your first time I love BH Cosmetics. Their products are affordable and made of good quality, especially their eye shadow palettes!

The palette in this “swatch review” is the Blushed Neutrals Palette by Bh Cosmetics. This is 26 color eye shadow and blushes that includes 3 finishes: Matte, Shimmer and Satin! I love Neutral eye shadow, not only are they pretty but these are simple and not over the top loud. So this would be great for a more subtle look.

Row 1: This row of colors are really pretty, they are very vibrant. It gives that pop of color and shimmer to make any look stand out. This is great for anytime look and also great for the spring season!

Row 2: This row is my second favorite and the colors are gorgeous. This photo doesn’t do these colors justice! Although this palette is neutral, this row nothing but dull.

Row 3: This row isn’t my favorite, however I do like a few of the colors. For some reason it seems a little too dull for me and some of the colors are not as pigmented. I do however love the shimmer in the first few colors.

Row 4: This is my favorite row by far and although this is the blush row, these colors are beautiful. In my opinion this row stands out more than the rest. This row is a mixture of matte and shimmer and I think the second color is satin. You can’t go wrong with pink! The first color is my top favorite, it’s perfect for under the brow highlight.

I hope you enjoyed reading! What’s your favorite palette or have you ever ordered anything for BH Cosmetics?

9 Guilty Pleasures

Thursday, January 18, 2018

We all have those guilty pleasures that just won't go away. So I decided to share 9 of my guilty pleasures with you. Some of these are a habit I just can get rid of. Others have become apart of my routine!
Cracking My Knuckles: This is a habit I've had for a long time. I can't help cracking my knuckles, actually it's pretty soothing for me. I find myself doing this without me realizing it. Depending on my mood, whether I'm upset or nervous I crack knuckles.
Washing My Hands Constantly: I guess you can say I don't like germs. It's like every few minutes I'm washing my hands. I don't even have to touch anything.
YouTube Videos: I'm obsessed with watching YouTube videos and I can watch them for hours. It's like one video leads to another. Some of my favorite channels are vlogs, beauty, food and comedy!
Comic Book Movies: I love comic book movies and I'm pretty sure I've watched most of them. I can't really decided whether I like Marvel or DC better. Do you have a favorite.
Disney Movies: Growing up I watched Disney movies and since being an adult nothing's changed. I'm a kid at heart and I don't see things changing. I love all the Disney princesses, but my favorites are the older ones. One of my favorite non Disney princess movie is wall e! Oh wait, how can I forget about the toy story series, basically I love everything about Disney!
90's Music: Wasn't the 90's just the best! I always like to listen this decade because I grew up in this decade. From Usher, TLC, Aaliyah, Monica, Brandy, Boys II Men, The Spice Girls, *NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, Celine Dion, Mary J Blige, Toni Braxton and the list goes on. I have a playlist dedicated to 90's music! The music now isn't really the same anymore.
Reading Gossip Magazines: Don't judge me on this, I'm sure a lot of you like gossip to right? The latest juiciest stories or scandals. Not all the time but here and there isn't so bad!
Eating Pasta: This has to be the number one guiltiest pleasure of mine. This is in my top 3 favorite foods. If I could eat pasta everyday without any repercussions, I would! It's comfort food for me.
Watching Police/ Crime Television: This one is probably bad, but I can't help it. I think this guilty pleasure is self explanatory. I love watching show like Law & Order: SVU, Criminal Minds, Hawaii Five 0, Chicago PD and I think that's it. There is one more, I like watch the id channel I found it to be an eye opener. I don't watch it often as before though.

I hope you enjoyed reading this post! What are your guilty pleasures?

Tips For Natural Hair During The Winter

Tuesday, January 16, 2018
If you’re someone with natural hair you understand the struggles we go through during the Winter time. Our hair goes through constant phases and sometimes our hair routine changes. For me it feels like during the Winter I have to change up my whole routine. But over the past four years, I’ve learned what works and does not work for my hair. I also learned about natural hair in general, so I decided share some tips to get you through the Winter season.

Protective Hairstyles
Every now and then it’s important to give your hair a much needed break. From all the stress the hair has gone through, whether you have straightened once in awhile or combing it’s time to put your hair in an untouchable hairstyle. There are so many options out there like: braids, twists, faux locs, and wigs!

If you’re like me then your hair tends to get dry during Winter and Summer. It’s crucial to keep the hair moisturized, because it’s more re prone to being brittle and eventually breaking if it’s dry. Using oils like: olive oil, jojoba oil, Argan oil, Moroccan oil and etc. is necessary. Every so often I would recommend using a hot oil treatment as well. You don’t have to buy this, you can simply warm up some olive oil and apply to the hair. If you have your own method that’s fine, this is what works for me.

Diffuse Your Hair
Unlike the Summertime you can’t really get away with air drying your hair. Because the weather is cold outside it will take much longer to dry and you can get a cold which you don’t want to happen. If you don’t want to spend the extra time diffusing, then braid your hair and wear a cute hat. If that doesn’t work, put your hair in a protective style!

Deep Condition
Every week you should deep condition your hair or at least every two weeks. This ensures your hair is moisturized, healthy and strong.

Change Up Hair Products
Honestly I didn’t think there would be a difference when changing the products you use, but I was wrong. When you use your hair products for a long time, the hair gets use to it and therefore it doesn’t work as well anymore. So I definitely recommend changing things up. Make sure it’s sulfate free, because sulfates strip the hair of its natural oils.

I hope you enjoyed reading and have found this helpful. What tips that you use for your hair?

Here's To 2018

Monday, January 15, 2018

Happy New Year everyone! I know what you’re thinking, “she’s days late”. But I’ve gone through some life lessons and I wasn’t ready to start blogging again. Last year was not the best for me and I’ve seen it was wasn’t for a lot of other people as well. Blogging wasn’t something I was into last year, I just didn’t want to force. I was not confident in my photos and which made my confidence go down. To be honest I had 10 posts in my draft ready to go, but what use is that without a picture.

Anyway this year is a fresh start for me and I’m very optimistic and positive that this year will be a good one. For Christmas I got a planner and I’ve wrote down all my goals I want to accomplish by the end of this year. For once I wrote down blog posts I’m uploading for 3 months, that’s definitely a first. In the past I’ve said I don’t need a planner and it’s ok to go against the grain and not be an organized blogger. Today I will admit that that’s not working for me anymore and it’s important to have a plan, at least for me it is.

So here’s to a new year, new beginnings and being the best me I can be. I’m not perfect but, who is? I hope all of you have a wonderful year and may your dreams come true and your goals be accomplished!

What are your goals for this new year and have you started them?
